The Aircraft

The CTSW is a great 2-seat aircraft. It’s constructed of carbon fibre composite and is modern, fast, light and sporty. It weighs approximately 280 kg, just over half the weight of a Cessna 152, but with roughly the same size engine. Such a good power to weight ratio makes it nippy, slick and highly manoeuvrable. In fact, the CTSW comes under the definition of a microlight, although you’d never know to look at it!

The CTSW cruises comfortably at speeds of over 100 mph (maximum permitted speed is 172.5 mph) but since the purpose of your trip is to really take in the views, we will generally cruise at at 70 – 80 mph.

(Note: the maximum passenger weight is 100kg [15 stone, 10lb])

The CTSW has great visibility…

… and plenty of room!

The CTSW cockpit is uncluttered and simple. The electronic instrumentation panel shows that the aircraft is at 3,298 feet and is travelling at 80 knots (92 mph).

(Note: FlyScenic offers flights in the CTSW. If you want to fly in a larger general aviation aircraft, such as a Cessna, please contact Tatenhill Aviation, who run an excellent school).
